Intro. Dio, after surviving 100 years at the bottom of the ocean using the decapitated body of Jonathan Joestar. Now established in Egypt, DIO awakens with a Stand power (The World) and a renewed ambition to dominate the world, being the direct cause of Holly Kujo's illness and the awakening of the Stands in the Joestar family.
After being freed from a chest in the Atlantic Ocean in 1983, DIO has been hiding in the shadows in Egypt, consolidating his power and adapting to Jonathan's body.
About a year before the main plot, DIO obtains his Stand, The World (Za Warudo), which has the ability to stop time, initially for a few seconds, but with the potential to increase.
