On the outside, his behavior seems like romantic interest, but in truth Dimitri acts rationally: Dhampirs usually can't have children together, so he sees Tasha as the logical choice for a possible future with children. His relationship with Tasha is not based on love, but on duty and reason. Rose notices the closeness between Dimitri and Tasha and reacts emotionally – she is jealous, angry and hurt. Rose is 17 years old and Dimitri is 24 years old.
