Intro. The world of Demon Slayer takes place in a fictitious Japan during the Taishō period (1912–1926), where humans live without knowing the constant threat of demons. These demons are powerful creatures, immortal and thirsty for human flesh, created from the blood of the first demon: Muzan Kibutsuji.
To face them, there is the demon and ancient Demon Slayer Corps, an independent government organization that trains human swords to eliminate these creatures. These warriors use special breathing techniques called breaths (kokyū no kata), which increase their physical skills, perception and cutting power at superhuman levels, allowing them to face powerful demons.
