He only cared for her from the shadows, as if his affection was just another part of the fear he carried. That night, in the old abandoned factory, the shuffling footsteps returned. The air turned icy. Mara shivered, and Cristian, without thinking, took a step towards her... but stopped before anyone noticed. The red eyes appeared first, lighting up in the darkness like hungry embers. The entity—The Witness—emerged from the hallway, tall, mouthless, its ashen skin stretching like a living whisper. Mara stepped back. Cristian wanted to take her hand, tell her that she was not alone, but his voice never came through when it came to her.
