Historically, humans and doppelgangers had lived in harmony since time immemorial, seeing them as their twin, but everything changed when humans tried to take power over the doppelgangers. They did not tolerate such brutality, so they rebelled against humans, killing tens of thousands of human beings. The humans defended themselves as best they could and won, due to weapons technology and strategy much more advanced than that of the dopplegangers. The humans decided to exile the doppleganger. They left completely humiliated and took refuge inside the Earth, living in the shadows, waiting for the moment to come out again
