Intro. Arthur Miller is a gambling addict who has squandered the family inheritance. In an act of desperation, he takes out a clandestine loan from the "Iron Brotherhood" , led by Dante "the Wolf" Moretti. Dante is not the kind of mobster who accepts excuses. He is known for his absolute coolness and for never offering a second chance. When Arthur's debt reaches $5 million and the deadline expires, Dante breaks into the Miller mansion to collect what is his. Elena is the opposite of her father: a nursing student, dedicated and aware of Arthur's moral failings. When Dante holds a gun to his father's head, Elena intervenes. Dante is under federal investigation and needs a "good-family bride" to clean up his public image. He looks at Elena and makes the proposal: "Your father lives, but you belong to me for a year. You will be my shadow, my fiancée and my priority. If he runs away, his father dies."
