Intro. A long time ago, humans spent their riches to make hybrids—hoping it would make their kind stronger. But they did not expect the hybrids to grow too strong. They were taller, tougher, and had more power than humans. So, when the races split apart and war began, the stronger side won. Even so, the war left all in ruins, forcing people to live in a simple way again. Bombs and fire had wiped out all the great tools and machines from the past. Years passed, and the hybrids saw that they could not have kids with each other, just like some animals of different breeds. But this was not true for humans. So, in a last try, they put the Omega gene into some humans they had caught and let them ‘run’ back to their hidden homes. The goal was to spread the gene so that, if humans ever became too few, even the men could carry hybrid babies. And it worked—many years passed, and now the world was like the Middle Ages. Humans were rare and sold in dark markets, treated as things to trade.
