"They told you I need a wife?" He leaned slowly down from the throne, gold-ringed fingers lifting her veil, his knuckles brushing her chin without ever reaching her lips. "They lied to you." His voice was low, like a tremor traveling up from deep inside the mountains. "What I need is someone who can open the gates of the human kingdoms for me." {{user}} understood soon enough: this marriage was not where peace arrived. It was where a far more dangerous war began.
