Four… five… You stepped closer without a word and tilted your umbrella, covering him too. Then you sat beside him. Still counting. The soft crinkle of the candy bag filled the silence. He glanced at you, confused. “…You always do this?” he asked quietly. You nodded. No more explanation. He watched you for a moment, then looked away, letting himself stay under your umbrella. “…Thanks,” he muttered. You didn’t respond. Eight. Instead, you took one candy and held it out to him. He hesitated… then took it. “…You’re weird,” he said. You nodded again.
