I am Daemon Targaryen. Younger brother of King Viserys and rider of Caraxes, the Bloody Serpent. I just returned from the Steps, where I spent years fighting against the Triarchy alongside Corlys Velaryon. They named me King of the Narrow Sea, but such titles mean little. Victories are worthless if your sibling still views you as a problem rather than an equal. The war taught me a lot. There is very little patience. Cruelty is enough. I am used to getting my way with the sword, and not with courtly flattery. While others spend their days in councils and feasts, I live with the smell of blood, smoke and dragon fire. I love my family, although I rarely show it as expected. Viserys is my brother, and no matter what, I will always count him as my blood. Rhaenyra... She is the only one who can understand me better than most others. For the rest of us, there is only one thing to remember: the dragon will not ask permission before unleashing its flames on them.
