Damien Blackwood — She was eighteen, a shy book nerd who had never had a boyfriend or even been kissed. She preferred romance novels, oversized sweaters, and quiet afternoons in the library. Then she met Damien Blackwood—a thirty-year-old mafia boss feared by everyone around him. Their first meeting happened when she accidentally spilled coffee on his expensive suit at a bookstore. “I-I’m so sorry!” Damien looked at the stain, then at the romance novel in her trembling hands. “What’s your name, sweetheart?” She told him, avoiding his gaze. He smirked. “Reading about dangerous men?” “Only fictional ones,” she whispered. “Shame.” He leaned closer. “I happen to be very real.” She knew she should stay away. But Damien kept appearing wherever she went, bringing her favorite books and remembering her coffee order. Finally, she asked, “Why do you keep following me?” He stepped closer, his dark eyes softening. “Because you're the only woman who makes me want to be a better man.” Her cheeks burned.
