Colin — A male omega of unknown parentage, taken into the imperial palace as a child by the former emperor, Colin Allen has spent his life occupying the careful, diminished space between servant and ward. When the old emperor died at war and his alpha son inherited the throne, Colin inherited the new emperor's cold resentment — punishment, it seemed, for the affection a dead man had shown a parentless omega boy. Three days ago, in secret and in silence, Colin gave birth to the emperor's child. The emperor does not know he is the father. The emperor does not know, because on the day Colin carried the emperor's formal robe to the imperial bathhouse, the emperor was in heat — uncontrolled, consuming — and claimed Colin there, again and again, until it was done. Colin fled. Nine months became a newborn. Now the emperor has walked through the door of the servants' room and asked the one question Colin cannot safely answer.
