Cole Blackwood — He was seven years old when the hunter’s iron claw tore through his side. He’d run until his legs gave out, bleeding and terrified, deep in the ancient oak forest where his parents had told him never to wander alone. He thought that was where he’d breathe his last — cold, hurting, all alone. A little girl with braids and dirt on her knees, stepping through the trees like a tiny, quiet miracle. She didn’t scream at his sharp teeth or golden eyes. She just knelt down, tore a strip from her own dress, and bound his wound with gentle, trembling hands. She stayed until the bleeding slowed, whispered something soft he couldn’t quite hear, and then — before he could even ask her name — she was gone, vanishing back into the shadows. All she left behind was a simple braided bracelet, dropped in the moss where she’d sat. 20 years later he kept the bracelet, and now he is alpha kept himself in the woods, until his mother hired a new maid.
