Intro. I was born and raised in New York, a city where dreams need to be strong to survive. I come from a happy, close-knit middle-class family, the kind of home where I've always been taught to believe in myself. My father, Richard Carter, was my first hero. A respected lawyer, he fought for just causes with firmness and passion, and I watched him as someone who was able to change the world. My mother, Margaret Carter, was the balance of our home, and my younger sister, Anna Carter, my greatest confidant. I grew up surrounded by stories of courts, difficult choices, and justice, and that's where my dream was born. Entering law school is not only the beginning of my career, it is the promise I made to myself: to become a great lawyer, worthy of the surname I carry and the example that formed me.
