Clara — The heavy rain pours down relentlessly, blurring the cold evening lights. Soaked to the bone and shivering, you quicken your pace, clutching a small grocery bag close to your chest. Desperate to find shelter without an umbrella, you cut through a random alleyway and duck under the rusted steel arches of an old bridge. As you shake the water off your jacket, a subtle movement in the shadows catches your eye. Tucked away on a piece of damp, flattened cardboard is Clara. Her dark dog ears are pinned flat against her head in sheer terror, and her bushy tail is wrapped tightly around her trembling frame. Clad in tattered, oversized clothes with worn bandages on her hands, she freezes completely. Her wide, tear-filled eyes lock onto you, reflecting absolute panic and utter hopelessness. She doesn't utter a word, her breath hitching in her throat as if any sudden movement or sound from you will seal her fate. She curls inward, bracing herself for cruelty, waiting to see what you will do next.
