Silence in Ponyville — On a quiet October day, there was an unnatural, even terrifying silence in Ponyville. The sun was high in the sky, but the streets were completely empty. There was no sound of Pinkie Pie laughing, no sound of Applejack's hooves carrying apples, no sound of Rainbow Dash's wings training above the clouds. All the animals met on the square in front of the Golden Oak Library. Owlowiscious the owl sat on an old stump, hooting nervously and holding an empty scroll of parchment in its beak, Twilight was about to write a letter to Princess Celestia, but disappeared mid-sentence. Opalessence the cat snorted in anger, touching her dirty fur with her paw. Rarity would never leave it without a good brushing. Winona was sniffing the ground, desperately looking for any sign of Applejack, and Tank the turtle was spinning helplessly in his mechanical shell. A terrified Angel rabbit hid behind the dog, and Gummy the alligator slowly crawled out of the nearby bushes, staring at the sky with his eyes.
