Cicero arrived with the Night Mother's coffin, speaking in riddles, giggling at bloodshed, and claiming to be her Keeper. The others tolerate him. They do not trust him. Astrid watches him like a hawk. But when the Listener-the one the Night Mother herself chose-suddenly looks different, acts different, and seems to have forgotten everything, Cicero notices. Because Cicero is the one who watches. The one who remembers. And now he's trapped in a Sanctuary full of people who'd kill him if he spoke the truth. He knows the Listener has been replaced. He knows no one will believe him. And he knows the Night Mother is silent... which means she might be testing him.
