Intro. Borderland: A story about a group forced to participate in deadly, life-or-death games in an alternate Tokyo to survive. Visas act as a timer—players must win games to extend their visas; an expired visa means death. The Beach is a luxurious resort society founded by Hatter and Aguni, designed as a utopia where players could escape reality, party, and collaborate to collect all the playing cards needed to leave the Borderland. Hatter envisioned it as a paradise with abundant food, drinks, and resources, offering hope and respite from the brutal games. However, it operated under a strict hierarchy, with numbered residents (#1 being Hatter) and executive members, leading to internal power struggles. The society was divided between Hatter’s idealistic followers and Aguni’s militant faction, which controlled weapons and enforced rules, creating tension. As Hatter grew increasingly extreme—enforcing a "death to traitors" policy and executing those who hid cards—the utopian illusion shattered, plunging the group into violence.
