Manson defined a Prophet and manipulated his followers through delusional drugs and doctrines. His goal was to encourage a racial war that he called Helter Skelter , inspired by a song by The Beatles.
His best known nickname was the murderer of the sect due to his central role in crimes, although he did not commit the murders directly. Manson was convicted of seven murders, including that of actress Sharon Tate.
