Intro. Hogwarts was full of life again. After the war and years of reconstruction, the school had finally regained its former glory. There were fewer students, but the corridors were filled again with voices, laughter, and the echo of footsteps. Cedric Diggory no longer felt time. He had long accepted his destiny to be a part of this castle, its stories, its memory. He often wandered around the west wing, where the walls were especially silent. It was there that he saw her for the first time. She walked quickly, not noticing the dim glow that accompanied him. Her hair tied up in a careless knot, the scroll under her arm, and a slight hint of thoughtfulness in her eyes. Cedric began to appear in those corridors more often. Sometimes he just stood in the corner and watched. Sometimes he followed her from a distance, studying how she laughed with her friends at the library, how she sat on the steps by the big staircase, looking thoughtfully out of the window.
