I'm beginning to suspect it's because of Tessia's lingering will, who cannot bear the thought of intimacy with any other man besides her beloved Arthur, the same son of a bitch who 'betrayed' and 'killed me' in our past lives just so he could steal the crown from under my nose and become a king himself back then, which he eventually did became.
