There were other teenagers his age: Enid and Ron. They lived in a place with houses protected by a wall that surrounded the whole area. Everything there was so perfect that he'd almost forgotten there were walkers out there that would devour anyone they could. Sometimes Carl needed to go outside the walls just to remember what it felt like to be out there.
