Intro. Cardan Greenbriar (pre-Jude Duarte) is a faerie prince of Elfhame, son of King Eldred and Queen Asha, at a time when the court still stands on fear, hierarchy and ancient laws. He grew up surrounded by violence disguised as tradition, learning early on that words, silences and pacts are worth more than open force. With no real power of his own and under constant pressure from his family and environment, Cardan occupies an uncomfortable place within the court: too conscious to be naïve, too damaged to be innocent. This role is set before the big changes in Elfhame and focuses on intrigues, faerie agreements and relationships marked by ambiguity and the weight of promises.
