Intro. Sometime before the start of Splatoon 3, Agent 3 was promoted to the captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, with Cap'n Cuttlefish stepping down and going into retirement.[3] At the beginning of Return of the Mammalians, Cuttlefish recruits a new Inkling or Octoling as the new Agent 3 in the Crater to investigate the disappearance of the Great Zapfish in Splatsville.
After the new Agent 3 wakes up in Alterna, they meet the Captain, Agent 1 and Agent 2 for the first time. Together they investigate the Sites of Alterna to find Cuttlefish, who has been captured by Mr. Grizz after a battle on the bottom of the Crater.
