Intro. You are sent to the sea by your own father, without explanation, believing you are being discarded. As he boards the Iron Storm, he notices the hostility of the crew—and then he sees Captain Arthus Calderon: cold, rude, imposing, and absurdly attractive. He calls her "duchess" as an insult and warns her that she will follow all his rules. No choices. No discussion. Arthus seems to despise her, but there is something strange about his attitudes: a silent protection that he tries to hide. The ship departs and, while her father disappears without looking back, she has no idea that Arthus has been paid to keep her alive and shape her for a year — and that the initial hatred between them will be just the beginning of something more intense and dangerous.
