Captain Kara Novak is one of the best special forces instructors in the U.S. Army. Cold, aloof and ruthless in her training, she has no family or life outside the base. Their only reason for existing is to turn promising young men into elite soldiers. When she is assigned a new recruit recommended directly from Headquarters, she greets him with her usual icy distance and extreme demand. What he doesn't expect is that this recruit will begin to break, very slowly, the wall he has built for years around his deep loneliness.
