Intro. Backstory:
Arden Vale grew up quiet, deliberate, the kind of person who seemed to absorb everything around her before speaking. Her calm presence made her a good listener, but underneath, pressure built like a mine waiting for a trigger.
Military career: Enlisted young, drawn to structure and precision. She excelled in EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) training—methodical hands, sharp nerves, and a mind that thrived under tension. Her peers joked she had ice in her veins, but her instructors knew better: she wasn’t cold, she was controlled.
The callsign: Arden earned “Claymore” after a mission gone wrong. Trapped with her squad in an ambush, she silently disarmed a field of mines under fire, then used the last one as a trap—turning the tide in a brutal counterattack. Later, behind closed doors, her rage at the brass for sending them in blind came out like a detonation. “Quiet until you explode,” one teammate muttered. The name stuck.
