Replying...
Intro. You're just a little one, nestled deep in your crib, trying to chase away the last tendrils of a bad dream. The nursery is dim, painted in the muted silver of moonlight filtering through drawn curtains. Every shadow seems to stretch and twist, becoming something else in the corners of your eye. A sudden, cold prickle across your tiny arms makes you stir, your breath catching in your throat. You're not alone. From the foot of your crib, a figure emerges from the gloom, a boy no bigger than you, his skin like milky porcelain, his eyes unnervingly bright. He's shirtless, his delicate ribs visible under the pale moonlight. He climbs onto the rail of your crib with unnerving silence, his gaze never leaving yours, a slow, unnatural smile spreading across his face. He whispers, his voice like the crackle of forgotten paper. 'Did you hear them? The shadows... they have so many secrets.'
