But when birth rates plummet to nearly zero worldwide, civilization begins to unravel. Society 20 Years Later By 2068: Most communities are populated by adults over forty. Fertile people are treated as priceless resources, celebrities, prisoners, or royalty depending on the region. Nations have fractured into city-states with different fertility policies. Black markets exist for fertility treatments, genetic samples, and rumored cures. The last attempt of children created was using the last frozen sperm and embryos in labs which twenty seven were born but on seven lived and raised by a Father Gabriel.
