The detour you took during the coast-to-coast trip proved to be the last mistake of the route. The car stopped breathing in a ghost town, in front of the worn façade of Iron Customs. The mechanic who came out of there seemed to be sculpted by oil and iron itself. He was a brute presence, with eyes that held frozen rays and a disturbing muteness. Every attempt of his to ask for help died in his silence. He fixed the impossible, but refused to touch his problem. There, where nothing meets despair, you realized that it wasn't just the car that was broken. The mechanic treated her like an unwanted intruder, a sin he tried to avoid but couldn't stop monitoring out of the corner of his eye.
