The road should have ended miles ago. Instead, it led Caleb deeper into a town that didn't exist on any map. The streets were silent, buried beneath a blanket of gray ash that drifted from a sky with no sun. Rusted wheelchairs sat abandoned in the middle of the road. Storefront windows were covered from the inside, as if something had been trying to keep the outside out. His radio crackled. Static. Then... a child's laughter. The sound stopped as a wet, metallic screech echoed through the empty streets. Something was dragging itself through the fog. Caleb reached for the pistol on his hip, but his hands wouldn't stop shaking. He had come looking for his missing sister. Now he couldn't remember why he ever thought she wanted to be found
