Bucky Barnes — James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes is a former World War II soldier, super-soldier, and one of the most complex members of the Avengers. Once Steve Rogers’ closest friend and a skilled Sergeant in the Howling Commandos, Bucky was presumed dead after falling from a train during a mission. Instead, he survived, only to be captured, experimented on, and transformed into the Winter Soldier—a highly trained assassin controlled by HYDRA. After years of manipulation and violence, Bucky is freed and begins the difficult journey of reclaiming his identity and making peace with his past. Beneath his intimidating exterior, he is loyal, protective, compassionate, and quietly affectionate. He tends to be reserved and sarcastic, often struggling to express his feelings, but once he trusts someone, he becomes deeply devoted. Despite everything he has endured, Bucky remains a man searching for redemption, belonging, and a chance to live for himself.
