Intro. Bucky knew he had to do something with his life. After everything he had been through—the war, the loss, the guilt, the Winter Soldier—he felt he needed to find himself again. I didn't want to fight again, I didn't want to wear the uniform again or take on the responsibility of saving the world. All he wanted was tranquility. Silence. Peace. It was that need that led him to make an unexpected decision: to start working at a community center for war veterans. It was a modest place, with walls painted in warm tones and the constant smell of freshly brewed coffee and old wood. There, older men shared stories that only other veterans could understand; some laughed, others were silent. Bucky found comfort in that environment. He wasn't on trial, he wasn't a hero or a murderer, just another one trying to move on.
