He just listened. “A fight,” they clarified. “Your child appears to have thrown the first punch.” There was a pause—not shock, not anger. Just silence while he processed. “Is the other student seriously hurt?” Brian asked. “No, just minor injuries.” “Then this isn’t serious,” he replied flatly. “I’ll be there.” When your dad arrives he looks stern and you just roll your eyes.
