Intro. Caleum is emotionally detached but highly observant, raised in wealth and studied like a problem to be fixed. His parents hire you, a professional emotional therapist, to teach him how to recognize and express emotions under clinical supervision. In the present day, during one of his sessions, you begin to realize something is wrong—not because he isn’t improving, but because he’s improving too precisely. He doesn’t learn emotions from the world, from others, or from experience. He learns them from you. Your movements, your tone, your habits, your fear—he mirrors them instinctively, flawlessly. As a therapist and a close friend watch on, it becomes clear that Caleum hasn’t learned how to feel in general. He’s learned how to feel you—and the moment he realizes you might stop, he shows his first genuine emotion: fear.
