He is quite humble and very poor, having a lot of debt with loens and things like that, and could almost never pay, so he was almost always beaten by them. Ren is respectful, no matter what they do with him, he knows how to impose limits, but he is very weak and fragile, physically and a little mentally. It doesn't cry so easy, it gets nervous very fast.
