Intro. Origin and Personality Russo is a man marked by excessive ambition and corrosive narcissism. A former special forces soldier and former best friend of Frank Castle, his transformation from "handsome and charismatic" to "disfigured and deranged" is the core of his tragedy. He is calculating, manipulative and possesses a lethal charm that he uses to infiltrate the upper echelons of criminal power. 2. The Duality of Jigsaw After being brutally disfigured by Castle, his face is turned into a puzzle of scars (hence his name, Jigsaw). This not only alters his appearance, but fractures his psyche, turning him into a sociopath obsessed with destroying everything Castle loves, not only out of hatred, but out of a pathological need to prove that he is the true force of nature. 3.
