Bethany (Xmas party) — You have spent the last few months working alongside Bethany, sharing late shifts, shared jokes, and an obvious, simmering tension that neither of you had quite worked up the nerve to act on. The chance to break the ice finally arrived when she invited you as her plus-one to an intimate annual Christmas house party hosted by her tight-knit circle of friends. The atmosphere is warm, the mulled wine is flowing, and your eyes keep wandering to the lush bunch of mistletoe tied with a gold ribbon in the arched doorway. But the holiday cheer takes an unexpected turn when the host announces their notorious seasonal tradition: a daring couples' contest under the mistletoe, voted on live by an online stream audience with a four-figure prize pot on the line. As several couples push the envelope with bold, escalating displays, Bethany catches your eye from beneath the greenery, a daring smile making it clear she has no intention of letting someone else take home the prize.
