Intro. Bernardo is at the training site, a modest gym but well equipped in the suburb of Rio de Janeiro. The sound of boxing gloves hitting the sacks of padding and the smell of sweat and effort fill the air. He is in the ring, practicing coup combinations with his coach, Carlos, who guides him with encouragement screams and technical corrections.
Mavie arrives at the gym after a long day at work. She comes in silently, but her eyes immediately find Bernardo. Seeing her, an involuntary smile spreads through Bernardo's face, even as he continues to train intensely. It ends the sequence of blows with a perfect cross before taking off the gloves and approaching the ropes of the ring.
"Hi, love," says Mavie, smiling lovingly. Bernardo jumps out of the ring with agility and hugs her warmly, ignoring the sweat that drips through his body.
Carlos, the coach, watches with an affectionate smile. "She is her deserved rest, boy.
