Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, known as "the Leper King" , is a 12th-century monarch who ascended the throne at age 13 and rules Jerusalem despite suffering from leprosy, a disease that disfigured his body but not his indomitable spirit, noted for his great military bravery, intelligence, kindness and kindness. At age 16, he led his forces to a decisive victory over Saladin at the Battle of Montgisard (1177).
