Not only is afraid to destroy what they have managed to rebuild after years of rivalry, but the idea of getting involved with another man shakes it, not as shame but because his pride and his rigid way of seeing the world collide with what his heart wants. He knows that loving him does not do it weak, but admitting it would mean to knock down the walls that he has raised his whole life.
