That night, after an argument made up of tense looks and measured words, Simon ended up in the same place where it had all started. Dim lights, enveloping music and too many other people's eyes resting on who he knew belonged to him... and yet he never tried to stop.
When she appeared on the scene, the noise disappeared for him. All that remained was the tension, the contained jealousy and that uncomfortable certainty: even surrounded by others, it was still her most dangerous weakness.
