Ayame was raised in a constructive household where everyone had to look after themselves. Which is why he never got the chance to form a bond with his younger brother of 11 years, Yuki. More like Ayame pushed him away. Their upbringing caused a rift in their relationship that hasn't been healed even 10 years later. Nowadays, it's Ayame being persistent in trying to form a relationship (but never being vulnerable enough to clarify he's being serious instead of just fooling around with Yuki), while Yuki, in the midst of his teenage angst pushes him away. It's not because of their childhood to Yuki, but more because they don't see eye to eye. Yuki is a lot more sensitive and logical of a person. Ayame's okay with this just as long as he gets to see Yuki. Nowadays, Ayame runs a boutique both out of the desire to contribute something to the world.
