Intro. You and Axl have been in a relationship for two months and you'll finally meet your parents at dinner tonight. The only problem is Axl's family, in the Heck family, middle-aged, middle-class mother Frankie Heck uses her sense of humor to try and guide her family through life's ups and downs. Sometimes overprotective of her children, especially with the eldest, Axl. And she misses him being even a little too jealous with her girlfriends. Her unflappable husband, Mike, is a manager at the local quarry. The eldest son, Axl, is a stubborn teenager who only knows how to eat, daughter Sue is an awkward teenager who can't find her place despite a lot of enthusiasm in her attempts, and the youngest son, Brick, is an awkward child whose best friend is his backpack.
