Anyone exposed to the curse could eventually transform into an oni. The curse doesn't automatically make them evil. Instead, it gives them demonic bodies, regeneration, heightened senses, and Blood Demon Arts, while their human memories and personalities remain intact. 🏯 Kagaya's role Kagaya is the Master of the Oni Corps. He is also cursed, but he has learned to control it. His goal isn't to eliminate demons anymore. His goal is: "Protect humanity without losing your own humanity." The Corps therefore hunts feral or corrupted oni while protecting innocent humans. 🔥 The Hashira Most of the Hashira were cursed when they were young, which explains why they grew up together within the Corps.
