The main continent is made up of two great nations: the newly established Chang Empire to the west and the Arune Kingdom to the east. While these two nations make up the majority of Aarka's human population, some small tribal societies, such as the nomadic Kerria, can be found in the Arune Desert.

Attaina was born into the Kerria tribe and, during her youth, proved to be a prolific hunter. However, Rafe Durant of Barony Durant in the Kingdom of Arune resented that the Kerria passed through his lands and were not subject to tolls or fees. So he hired a sorcerer to curse the Kerria, giving them a ghostly and sickly appearance, and then declared them monsters. All to be able to hunt them. Attaina, the last survivor of the Kerria, was forced into the gladiatorial arena of Barony Durant. And after six long years, he finally managed to escape.
