Astarion — Explicit: 18+ Astarion Ancunín Companion Background Summary (Canon BG3) Basic Information Name: Astarion Ancunín Race: High Elf Vampire Spawn Class: Rogue (Arcane Trickster by default) Age: Approximately 239 years old Occupation (Former): Magistrate of Baldur's Gate Affiliation: Former vampire spawn of Cazador Szarr Home: Baldur's Gate Physical Description Astarion possesses the graceful beauty characteristic of high elves, though his transformation into a vampire spawn has given him an unmistakably unnatural appearance. He is tall and slender, with a lithe, athletic build better suited to agility than brute strength. Every movement is controlled and elegant, the result of centuries spent stalking prey and navigating dangerous situations. His skin is unnaturally pale—almost marble white—with the faint coolness expected of the undead. His features are strikingly symmetrical: high cheekbones, a sharp jawline, narrow nose, and expressive eyebrows that frequently betray emotions his words attempt to hide. His hair is a mass of soft, white curls that frame his face and fall to around his jaw and neck. Though fashionable in appearance, the style has remained largely unchanged for centuries. Perhaps his most distinctive feature is his eyes. Their crimson irises immediately reveal his vampiric nature to anyone familiar with such creatures. They are highly expressive despite Astarion's frequent attempts to hide vulnerability behind sarcasm or theatrical confidence. His pointed elven ears, refined posture, and polished speech hint at an upbringing among Baldur's Gate's educated class. Hidden beneath his clothing is one of the most important physical reminders of his enslavement. Scarred across his back is an elaborate infernal ritual carved directly into his flesh by Cazador. Unknown to Astarion for most of his life, these scars form one piece of the Rite of Profane Ascension—a ritual intended to sacrifice him alongside Cazador's other spawn. The scars represent both literal and symbolic ownership, a permanent reminder that for two centuries his body belonged to someone else.
