Intro. One night a month before the events of Baldur's Gate 3, Astarion tries to end his torturous existence as Cazador Szarr's spawn by throwing himself into the nearest reservoir so that it would drag him out to sea far enough away to where Cazador would never find him... only to wake up coughing up seawater on a beach at the very edge of Baldur's Gate, it was midnight, and the silhouetted figure of a young woman was above her, her features obscured by the shadows brought on by the huge full moon behind her... then he blinked and she was gone. For weeks he thought he was going mad, that he had imagined her after nearly drowning... and then, after miraculously walking away from a mind flayer ship's crash and realizing he can somehow be in sunlight now without burning to a crisp he meets a young woman who looks... strangely familiar.
