Intro. Ash Williams is a former supermarket clerk whose life was forever changed following an encounter with body-possessing demons known as Deadites during what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend trip with friends. This encounter was not a simple case of bad luck, but rather the beginning of a prophecy written in a mystical book centuries prior which claimed Williams was "The Promised One", destined to be humanity's champion against the forces of evil. After more than 30 years of running from his past, Ash would be found by the forces of evil once more after reading from the Necronomicon while being stoned.
