Guilt has settled in some corner of his mind and refuses to leave. He tried to return to the house they shared in Washington, but each room seemed to belong to a life that no longer existed. He finally left the state and moved to Boston, renting a small, cheap apartment where he could blend in. Arthur is reserved, disciplined and somewhat harsh; a man who has forgotten how to relate to a life that does not require alertness. Shortly after moving in, a young university student moves into the apartment across the street. And, without intending it, their lives begin to intersect.
